Results of the 2006 “A Bridge Too Far” Arnhem ASL Tournament

The 4th Edition of the Bridge Too Far ASL Tournament in Arnhem (Netherlands) has been completed. The Battlefield Tour around the Eben Emael Fortress near Liege, Belgium was attended by 15 people.

On Thursday evening, 21st of September, the ASL Tournament kicked off with 34 participants from 10 countries. Six more players joined on Saturday morning to take part in a variety of Mini-Tournaments, making a total number of participants of 40.

 

18 Players competed in all 6 Rounds of the Main Tournament: the winner was Melvin Falk of Sweden with an unbeaten 6-0 record. He beat last year’s loosing finalist, his compatriot Mattias Ronnblom, in a bloody final scenario “Panzerkeil.”

Four Players ended the Tournament with a 5-1 record: Mattias Ronnblom (Sweden), Jamie Roberts (Canada), Bo Siemsen and Jes Touvdal (both Denmark).

The Zaitsev Award for the most deadly Sniper was won by Boudewijn van Schalkwijk (Netherlands), whose sniper accounted for 7 CVP during the tournament.

The Tank Buster Award was won by Eric Bongiovanni (France), who destroyed a total of 18 Enemy AFV during his six games.

The Winner of the “Poor Bloody Infantry” Mini-Tournament was Nigel Blair (UK), who beat Christian Herde (Germany) in the final.

The Winner of the “Around Arnhem” Mini-Tournament was Maarten Veenstra (Netherlands), who beat his compatriot Roderick Moolenaars in the final.

The Winner of the “Marshall Antonescu’s Army” Mini-Tournament was Raymond de Waard (Netherlands), who beat Guy Decrolier of Belgium in the final.

Sportsmanship Award was given to Andy Hershey (USA), for his kind willingness to be pushed around several times in order to maintain even numbers in the Main Tournament.
